Fairy Tale Ending

Description

This piece was pretty involved (it took about 20+ hours to complete). I got the idea to do a story book illustration of sort, where the PT characters were in an alternate universe and in a fairy tale setting.

In this scenario, Ahiru is a fairy, who has come to the human world to help the prince she admired. She'll still turn into a duck but instead of Princess Tutu, here in her fairy form Ahiru is able to help the prince and save the day. This picture is what I imagined to be the last scene from this fairy tale.

As the story comes to a close, peace has been restored, the prince has married his princess, but it was also time for Ahiru to return to the enchanted world. But the knight, who had at first grudgingly helped her on her mission, had by now fallen in love with her, and asked her not to leave. However when Ahiru came to this world she had given her heart to the prince (figuratively speaking), and it was that love that had kept her tied to the human world so she could stay to help the prince. Now that the prince had married another and Ahiru had given up on the prince, the bond was broken and she must leave. But the knight persisted and asked, "After all you've been through can you really turn your back on this world? Isn't there someone else whom you're willing to give your heart to?" And to the fairy's surprise, he said "Will you stay if I were to give my heart to you?" It was at that point that Ahiru realized that she did not want to leave, because she had grown to love this world and unbeknown to her before that moment, the knight as well. When she realized this, her new found feeling restored the magic that had allowed her to remain as a human. As the curtains close, the girl who once was a fairy takes the knight's hand and says she will remain with him, always.

The End

Cheesy? Very, very cheesy? Oh yes! XD;;;;; but when I finished sketching the figure drawings, that was the back story that popped out to me. ^^;

On the artsy side of things, ironically I liked both the background and the foreground images a lot by themselves, but when I put the two together I couldn't figure out what to do with the negative space that was left. I tried a lot of different things but went with the feathers to kind of fill the space in. Still, now that I look at the fanart it reminds me a lot of a doujinshi cover. XD
